We are excited to announce that FARMA is involved with a brand new initiative called START; a collaborative enterprise set up by The Princes’ Charity Foundation which aims to help people across the UK to take clear, positive and practical steps towards a more sustainable future.
START is to be rolled out across the UK, but this year will centre on a 12 day ‘Garden Party to Make a Difference’ in London, 8-19 September, in the Prince’s own gardens at Clarence House, and neighbouring gardens at Lancaster House and Marlborough House.
The London event aims to give people of all ages a fun day out while at the same time, via the exhibits, demonstrating the small steps that can, and are, being taken by all of us, interested in building a more sustainable future. There will be areas devoted to food, fashion, transport, gardens, and the arts, and the event is being endorsed by celebrities including Alan Titchmarsh and Vivienne Westwood, and backed by big name brands including the Eden Project, Addison Lee B&Q, BT Group, EDF Energy, IBM UK and Ireland, M&S, Virgin Money, Asda and Waitrose.
FARMA will play a large part in the Food Area, and we will have stands available for FARMA members and farmers’ markets producers to hire at a special member price for a day or more to sell their produce direct to visitors.
More information can be viewed on the website http://www.startuk.org/start-live/the-garden-party.aspx . Prices etc will be available soon, but to register your interest in this unmissable opportunity, please email
