Celyn Farmers' Market, who this month celebrated ten year of trading.

The Farmers' Market, based in Northop, was launched in October 1999, making it the oldest in North Wales, and has since expanded to Mold and Chester.

About 2,500 visitors and 35 producers flocked to the anniversary celebration as part of Flintshire Council’s rural experience week.

Celyn Farmers’ Market meets at St Mary’s Church Hall in Mold, the Grosvenor Garden Centre on Wrexham Road near Chester and the Northop college each month. For times and dates, go to www.celynfarmersmarket.co.uk.

Well done also to FARMA members Ullacombe Farm Shop who were voted the Best independent Food Shop in the Devon Life Awards. Darts Farm and Churston Tradtional Farm Shop were joint runners up for the category, and Churston also scooped the 'Best Butcher and Meat Producer' award.

The Awards are based on reader recommendations and support, and as such show that these farm retailers know how to listen to and provide exactly what their customers are looking for.

Hilary Pilkington of Ullacombe Farm Shop was surprised and delighted to receive the award, "We are a small, farmily run farm on the edge of Dartmoor, dedicated to homemade and locally sourced food. We are so proud to be chosen by our customers to receive this award - it shows that we we must be taking the right approach, and speaks volumes about the quality of the ingredients available on our doorstep."
