A cheese produced by High Weald Dairy in West Sussex has been named the Best in Britain and 5th best in the World at an International Competition.

The High Weald Dairy, at Tremains Farm in Horstead Keynes, competed against nearly 2,500 cheeses to win trophies for its Saint Giles product, a semi-soft cheese based on the French Port Salut and made using the farm's own organic cow's milk.

Closer to home, Nicholas Watts of Vine House Farm and Vine House Farm Bird foods won the Countryside farmer of the year award at the Farmers Weekly awards last Thursday.
