Access To Farms (ATF) runs a two day accredited training course to help you and your staff share experiences and develop knowledge and skills to reassure schools that farm visits are safe and educationally valuable.

The course covers three key areas:

• Preparing for farm visits

• Food, farming and the countryside in the national curriculum

• Talking to pupils, students and teachers

Courses are delivered over 2 whole days, usually 09.30 to 16.30, with refreshments and lunch breaks. Outdoor activities are limited to a risk assessment exercise; you will be notified if other than basic outdoor clothing is required.

During the course you will be supported to produce a portfolio of useful materials to use on the farm. Once the portfolio has been submitted and assessed as meeting the standard, you will receive a qualification from the Open College Network and an ATF certificate of achievement to display at your premises.

The course fee is £150 + VAT inclusive of registration with the Open College Network.
