Hollow Trees Farm, a few miles away from Hadleigh in Suffolk, sets out to create unique opportunities that allow access to agriculture for all. This is done through fun, adventure, education, employment and above all, fantastic food. The original roadside cart has grown over the last 28 years into a wonderful Farm Shop, supported by a farm trail and a year round programme of education and entertainment.
“All parts of this long running, but still expanding, business are very well run with the staff really involved in creating the atmosphere and feel of the place. All of the many different activities seem to complement each other, showcasing their own produce, local produce and the countryside as a whole.”Cheryl Garthwaite
The farm produces vegetables, meat, eggs, plants, flowers, hay and straw, all of which is sold on site. The Farm Shop has an excellent delicatessen plus a butchery department staffed by knowledgeable and friendly staff who go out of their way to help customers make informed choices concerning the beef, pork, lamb and goat meat, all of which is produced on site. A team of chefs not only create mouth watering food for the coffee shop, but also add value to so many farm products including their own ready meals.
The judges were particularly impressed with the way in which Sally and Robert have tight controls of all aspects of their business and how motivated all the staff were. To visit the farm trail with its very well cared for animals makes a real connection between farm and food.
